National Windsurfing Week – Get wind of some great deals!
By Allan Halsall
With National Windsurfing week just around the corner (1st – 8th May), now is surely the time to give the sport a go if you haven’t done already! For those of you have never tried, you are really missing out as windsurfing is a great sport, which is really enjoyable, and a thorough work out too! Many people have compared it to playing chess as many pieces move in many directions, so it is a mental work out too, but you can usually catch on to the basics after a few goes. However it is totally understandable that trying a new sport like this without any guidance can be daunting, especially as you are creamed into a wetsuit and left to experience the chilling waters which encompass the British Isles.
But it doesn’t have to be that way, as there are a handful of tour operators and travel agents who offer “learn to windsurf holidays” and water sports holidays in Europe where you can practise with the sun on your back and in clear blue water that doesn’t make you shiver. One such company is ActivityBreaks as they offer a 3 night windsurfing holiday for £142 on the Tuscan coast in Italy, where you can practise in the warm Mediterranean Sea. They also offer 2-night multi activity holidays in the Italian Alps where you can try your hand at windsurfing in Lake Iseo amongst other things from £118.
So this National Windsurfing Week why not check out your nearest windsurfing school and give the sport a go, or if you are feeling more adventurous, don’t want to don a wetsuit, or want to combine learning a new sport with seeing a new country then check out one of the windsurfing holidays from Activity Breaks.
