There is something comforting about the idea of San Francisco. You feel as if you should know it. It is familiar through so many images.image001 image by

Of course, there is that bridge, Alcatraz, the trolleys riding up the hills. Taking time to visit, whether you have been before or not, is like planning to see and hang out with an old friend. At the same time, you want to know if everything is going to live up to your expectations. As far as this magical city is concerned that is almost a given. San Francisco is fabulous.

Why not start with a bus tour? They are a great way to get to know any city and find your bearings. The view is always going to be good and you won’t have to worry about navigating! Most of the tourist buses go from Union Square, which is also the fabulous shopping must do.

Golden Gate Iconic

There is over 1.7 miles of it and it is one of the most photographed images in the world. You think you should know it, but nothing will prepare you for how magnificent the Golden Gate Bridge is in reality. You can walk across it no problem, but why not hire a bike? This incidentally is a great way to get around the city.

Sport and culture

It can be a great idea to plan you trip when the big teams such as the Giants are playing. You could book a hotel or guest house and get a ticket for a game. But for a great way of staying in the city and making the most of the experience why not check the san francisco vacation rentals? You’ll be close to the action and able to take advantage of the proximity to the city’s cultural attractions such as the Museum of Modern Art. Don’t forget the Ballet or even the Opera.

Pier 39

Slip on down to the pier at Fisherman’s wharf to see the sea lions. Getting there early is recommended. Then head over towards North Beach, a rather cool area that is filled with European style cafes and shops. It’s a great place to grab some breakfast. If San Francisco does anything to you at all, it will give you an appetite. But don’t worry you’ll have plenty of opportunity to walk it off. San Francisco loves its hills!

The Coit tower is that landmark that many cities have. The one that points up and that you know you really ought to climb because the views will be stunning. After you have taken your pictures and marvelled at the view, take the 400 steps down from the top of Telegraph Hill. You’ll see some beautiful and iconic houses and if you’re lucky you may even spot some of the famous wild parrots.

Cable Cars

It is one of the things that you have to in this city. There are three main lines and you’ll have to queue for while but a trolley car ride is a must do. You can ride on the side runners, though watch your bag is tucked in; you come very close to other trolleys travelling in the other direction.

San Francisco is a feast of history, culture and food! From the mysterious allure of Alcatraz to the sumptuous food markets there is something for everyone. You will have a packed out amazing experience in a city that will more than live up to your expectations.
